Our Children and Family Program is designed to expose families and children to the sounds, vocabulary and structure of language as we instruct them through age-appropriate, fun activities. Early exposure to the sounds, structure and vocabulary of the Spanish language through music, movement and song. Whether you are a native speaker who wants your family to conserve the language and traditions of your heritage, or if you want to encourage Spanish as a second language for your children, ?Canta conmigo! is where you begin with your littlest ones.

Hoopster Tots (basketball) – Ages 3-5

Get moving at your own pace. Zumba Gold is a Latin dance inspired fitness class that is specially modified for the beginner or the active, older adult. We'll get your whole body moving with low-impact, easy-to-follow steps set to international dance music. Zumba Gold is a fun cardio workout that also incorporates toning and balance. Please wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing.

Cotati Aikido – Ages 12+

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art. This class will study basic and flowing exercises with the wooden sword (bokken) and 5 foot staff (Jo). The Founder's desire that Aikido teach harmonious blending rather than conflict is emphasized in this class. We will explore the body movement consistent with empty-handed aikido. All skill levels are welcome. No uniform or dogi is required. The instructor, Pete Breeland, with over 30 years of experience with Aiki buki-waza (Aiki weapons techniques), is ranked at 5th dan. From Old, Unwanted Books to Lovely Gifts – Age 12+

This is an eco-friendly, thrifty, and fun craft of repurposing old unwanted books into unique and useful gifts. Class discussion will include getting started materials such as finding appropriate books, basic supplies and tools, construction, and decoration. Your hands on experience in our studio-style class will feature transforming old hard-bound book covers into decorative boxes for many uses such as jewelry, letters, files, and more. You will also learn how to turn old book pages into gift wrapping bows and paper. You will get to take home your projects and learn how to do them again! Instructor provides all materials needed.

Camps

Camp Cotati PJ Party– Ages 5-12

Does your child have the day off from school but you still have to work? Have no fear, Camp Cotati PJ Party is here! We will have a fun day filled with games, crafts, outside activities (weather permitting), and plenty of play! Campers are welcome to wear PJ’s to camp but please send them with shoes they can be active in. Please send a lunch and snacks with your child.

Camp Cotati Thanksgiving Break Camp – Ages 5-12

November 21-23, M-W 7:30am-6:00pm
Fee: $75/week, $35/day drop in
Let your children experience the magic of Camp Cotati! Each day will be include different games, crafts, and outdoor play (weather permitting). The week will focus on all we have to be thankful for! Please send your child with a lunch and snacks each day.

Camp Cotati Winter Camp – Ages 5-12

Camp Cotati Counselor in Training (CIT) Program – Age 13-17

Dates: Beginning July 25, M-F 9:00am-3:00pm
Fee: $50/week

The CIT program is designed to prepare and train young adults to become future Camp Counselors. This training will provide the CIT with a hands-on practical experience laying the foundation for development of skills necessary to become a future Camp Counselor. The CIT will be working with children ages 5 to 12 years old. While this training is specific to summer camps, the CIT will find aspects of the training that may be applied to any job. Specifically, the CIT will learn the following: * How to plan and implement large and small group activities * How to manage small groups of children * Basic techniques of positive reinforcement and discipline * Basic techniques of behavior management

CITs will be trained with the oversight of a City of Cotati employee and will be given the opportunity to grow and improve. While the City of Cotati does intend on training a CIT to become a future Camp Counselor, participation in the CIT program is in no way a guarantee for future employment.

Please send your child with a lunch and snacks each day (except lunch on Friday).

Camp Cotati – Age 5-12

Dates: Beginning July 25, M-F 9:00am-3:00pm with extended care options from 7:30-9:00am & 3:00-6:00pm
Fee: $145/week (9am-3pm), $40/day drop in, $20/week am extended care, $10/day drop in, $30/week pm extended care, $12/day drop in

Let your children experience the magic of Camp Cotati! Each week will be based on a different theme with games, crafts, and fun going along with the theme. Themes include "Under the Sea", "Wild Wild West", and more! Weekly walking field trips to La Plaza Park and daily outdoor activities will keep your child active. Fridays will end with a hot dog BBQ lunch! Your child may even get to meet a surprise guest from one of our local law enforcement or fire department! Please send your child with a lunch and snacks each day (except lunch on Friday).

British Soccer Camp – Ages 6-12

Challenger Sports' British Soccer Camp is the most popular soccer camp in the country based upon one of the most innovative approaches to coaching youth soccer in the US and Canada. Our experienced staff study the game at all levels and we have identified the key techniques and skills that your players need to work on and master to reach their true potential. With programs for each age, the curriculums includes a variety of foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, freestyle soccer, small-sided games, coached scrimmages, and a mini tournament play. Players also learn about our core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership.

British Soccer Camp – Mini Soccer - Ages 3-5

One and a half hours a day from Monday to Friday inclusive. Young players learn and practice the fundamental skills of the game through a series of fun soccer challenges, skill-building activities and small sided games. Elements covered will include passing the ball, dribbling and controlling the ball, turning with the ball, boundaries of the field, passing to team mates and scoring in the right goal! These key skills will be developed through various themes and use of the imagination to create a high energy and positive environment for each player!

Colors of Spanish Summer Spanish Immersion Camp - Ages 4-6

For 4-6year olds, our program consists of week-long sessions, Monday thru Friday, during which students will be engaged in age appropriate, fun activities that expose children to the Spanish language through games, rhymes, stories, acting, songs, music and art. Un día típico (A typical day): Differences make life rich! Similarities make us feel at home. We’re going to explore Spanish through the culture of our Spanish speaking neighbors to the south. Activities, foods, typical celebrations will be enjoyed throughout this week of immersion. All levels of proficiency are welcome!

Photo Walk-Abouts - Ages 12+ or with parent participation

Photo Walk-Abouts In a group setting, we gather for discussion about our hopes for the future, dreams, needs and goals. Then we explore ways to create images that represent those values. Your images can be abstract or concrete. There is no right or wrong way. Then Janet guide’s you in the second creative step which is a practice for experiencing more fun, ease and joy in everyday life! At the end of the 8 class program, you’ll have created a library of images representing how you belong in the world and what is most important to you. Goal of the Class (what participants will get out of it): A personal photographic journey of progress gives rise to immediate and visible results!

One visually, rather than verbally, discovers ones hidden treasures and understands personal power.

Bring any type of camera. Disposable cameras are available for those with no access to a camera.

Skyhawks Lacrosse Camp – Ages 6-12

Lacrosse combines basic skills used in soccer, basketball and hockey into one fast-paced game. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of stick handling, cradling, passing, and shooting in a fun, non-checking environment. Sticks, Gloves and Helmet are provided. All participants receive a t-shirt, and a player evaluation. Participant-to-coach ratio is 12:1

Skyhawks Multi-Sport Camp – Ages 6-12

August 8-12, 9:00am-12:00pm

Skyhawks has taken your favorite games from the playground and combined them into an action packed camp! Each day your young athlete will play variations of Kickball, Dodgeball, Ultimate Frisbee and Capture the Flag. Participants will learn sportsmanship, teamwork and strategy in addition to the rules of the game. Bring your friends or come make new ones. Campers will each receive a Skyhawks soccer ball, T-Shirt, and merit award at the conclusion of the week. Participant-to-coach ratio is 10:1

Jedi Engineering using LEGO® - Ages 5-6

Annie - Ages 8+

It's the hard knock life! This whirlwind of a camp will have you singing, dancing, and acting all of your favorite songs from Annie. Students will be learning to sing, dance and act as we put together the musical Annie in a fun performance for families at the end of the week. Students will delve into their creativity by helping create the dances, and working with other actors to develop scenes. Let's put together a show in a week! No experience necessary. Please send your child in comfortable clothing and shoes (tennis shoes or ballet shoes). No flip flops. Please send a snack and water bottle each day.

Star Kids Productions Improv Playwriting Camp: - Ages 8+

It is time to get creative! Students will develop their acting skills through a variety of improve acting games and exercises. Based on these exercises, the camp will work together to create a script for their very own play! The fun does not stop there - students will gather props and costume pieces to perform this play at the very end of camp for friends and family. Put your thinking camps on and let’s improve! No experience necessary.
